Raising your children to be healthy, happy, successful adults is the goal in every mom’s heart. Their needs are your main focus. And one day, you’ll wake up and realize just how quickly the time went. Your children will be doing what you taught them to do, and they will be ready to leave the nest. As you are planning fun family events this fall, enjoy every single minute. Take photos, create memories, giggle, dress up in costumes, and celebrate with your family. While all of that is going on, take some time to think about you. What energizes you? What drains you? Doing this will give you clues into what you’d like to focus on next, in your future endeavors.
A few questions to ask yourself:
1. What positive experiences from the past have made a big impact on who I am today?
2. Which negative experiences from my past have helped to shape me, but also have given me great compassion for others who might be going through similar circumstances?
3. Outside of my family and friends, who/what is important to me?
In thinking about your answers, write down your answers in a journal or share them with a friend. It really is possible to have a career that you love. And, you’ve already gotten started because you are doing what’s most important now, which is focusing on raising your precious children.
